The Asiatic golden cat and marbled cat are popularly called small cat species among the wild felids. Both these cats are found distributed in the South East Asian region and come from a common lineage of bay cats and inhabit moist evergreen forests. They are placed in the ‘Near threatened’ and ‘Vulnerable’ category respectively, according to the IUCN. Both are found in a variety of habitats.
